748R motor with Ducati Corse Factory crank and rods out of INS 996 factory bike = 772cc, Ducati 2001 748R - Corse gearbox - that's all I know.

The owner can most likely ride really well so doesn't need a powerful bike. Big smile

Hmmmmmm been doing some maths and 88mm bore (748) and a 66mm stroke (996) equals 803cc..........he does need a big engine.........Tongue

Hi folks,

Yes the bike is an '01 748R.

After a big-end bearing failure at Cadders the motor was rebuilt by Stew Johnstone at NME who did the engines for Colin Wright at GSE. Stew had the bits (crank, rods, gearbox, water pump) lying around his workshop so rebuilt my motor using them. Twas him that told me the displacmeent would raise to 772cc cos of the bigger throw on the crank.... Did it for me as a favour so who was I to complain what he put in it Big smileBig smileBig smile.....Put it this way, I trusted him far more than Mr Bologna to put it together right.

Bip subframe was swapped on cos Mrs C never wanted to go on the bike when I had a BIP but as soon as I got the R she wanted to go on the back......must have realised it was a different class of bike and something she wanted to enjoy too Big smile.... Either that or she wanted to know why I'd spent so much time away from her since it's arrival in the garage..... TongueWinkLOL Ally subframe that came with it was not up to 2-up riding. Need to get the frame/subframe/headlight hanger powder coated the same colour whenever I next strip it.

Guy

Done a few more here

Was a bit bored this morning so had another play at the "SeeThru" technique in the garage. Surprisingly I found that a 3m wide backdrop still isn't wide enough to do a bike justice (and I need to clear out my garage!!!!!)

I also discovered when morphing the images together just exactly how much the bike (swingarm, chain position etc) "moves" when you take a half tank of fuel off.

Only complaint apart from those mentioned above is that the injectors etc do not appear over the airbox enough to do the tank element any justice.

Guy
